Happy Birthday to Me!

Last week I turned the big 31. We kicked the week off by eating at Shogun where I received my first gift.....

 

a beautiful set of red dishes!! I really wanted them for Christmas but after I got them out of the box I figured I could use them for Thanksgiving too :)

My second gift was a new ceiling fan - here is my sweet hubby putting it together

this is how Emi helped - she decided that laying on the couch and being silly was much more fun than helping Dad put a fan together!

The morning of my actual birthday I awoke to flowers, a Pumpkin Spice Latte and breakfast in bed.

 After breakfast Emi had a surprise for me - she had turned her room into a spa. She arranged for us to have a foot soak while drinking smoothies. 

Then she painted my nails and did my make-up.

After my wonderful day at the spa, Brian took me to dinner at Circa. That was our first time to eat there and it was sooooooo good! I can't wait to go back!

I have to say it was a pretty good week ;)

New Car

This weekend I got a new car, well it's not really a car it's more like a tank. I'm still getting used to it - it's massive! We were very limited in our options - I need my 3rd row seat and I needed something we could put a wheelchair lift on and the only option was a Suburban or Yukon XL.

here is the new beauty. I like it but I am already missing the convenience of my van. It's kind of hard to get Jack in and out of this thing but the pay off will be that I won't have to lift his 60 pound wheelchair every time we get in and out of the car. My back can hardly wait ;)

Disney on Ice

Tonight we had a date night with Emi. We went to Mosa for dinner (her choice) and Disney on Ice. We have taken her to see Disney on Ice for the last 3 years and I thought she was maybe too old to go this year but she LOVED it!!!!

Soccer

Emi had her first soccer game of the season. She wasn't that excited about playing soccer again but as soon as she saw the uniform she was sold. It's amazing how the color pink can change a girl's mind ;)

After the game my poor grandmother fell as we were walking back to the car and broke her shoulder and wrist. Here she is at Campbell's Clinic getting her cast put on. I love that she picked out the most wild cast they had :)

I'm pretty sure she won't be attending any more games :(

Jobs People Do Day

Today at Jack's school was "Jobs People Do" Day. Since they gave us about 3 days to come up with an outfit and there are no Halloween costumes out yet, I had to raid Emi's dress up trunk. Thankfully she had some scrubs in there otherwise I would have been trying to come up with something out of a Little Mermaid or Tinkerbell costume ;)

Golfing

A few weeks ago Brian bought Emi a golf club and has been taking her to the driving range. She gets a little frustrated so he decided to enlist a little help from the golf-pro in the family, his dad. So yesterday they grabbed Poppy and headed to the driving range.

Rocking Chair

This was Brian's chair when he was Jack's age.
